Deficiencies in (digital) accessibility lead to disadvantages for students and employees with disabilities, although accessibility is a legal requirement according to § 2 Z 11 of the University Act (UG), § 6 Abs. 5 of the Federal Disability Equality Act (BGStG) and § 3. (1) of the Web Accessibility Act (WZG). The central service point for this aspect of diversity is the Center for Integrated Studies (ZIS).
Accessible campus
The ZIS knows about barrier-free access to individual buildings or rooms on the entire campus, their technical equipment (e.g. inductive hearing systems) and barrier-free new construction and renovation. Courses can be moved from inaccessible to accessible rooms if students with mobility disabilities attend them.
Accessible web
All information provided online to students and employees must be of equal quality and accessible to all persons with disabilities. This includes people with sensory disabilities as well as people with mobility impairments who use special output and input software on their PCs. To ensure this accessibility, guidelines for accessible web content (WCAG) from the World Wide Web Consortium (w3c) must be taken into account when designing websites or offerings on learning platforms such as Moodle.
